Album release with premiere of a video work in CCA Berlin
After party at Berghain
Courtesy is pleased to release her new album intimate yell. The album is accompanied by a 15-min plurivocal video collage with the same title, made in collaboration with photographer Laura Schaeffer, which will be screened at the release event at CCA Berlin on October 24th, 6-9 PM.
Parts of the video work intimate yell will be released as music videos or “chapters” before the release. The 2nd chapter, which is out on 26 Sep, is soundtracked by the Danish artist's new single Gretel Girl (breadcrumbs) feat. Sophie Joe. The video stars performance and conceptual artist Arthur Chruszcz, DJ and academic Saša Drábek aka TRANSmisia, photographer clara sartor, and artist Olga Hohmann. Together they appear in a modern love drama, ambiguous as Berlin’s chaotic dating scene. The affair is paired with texts, readings and conversations on Virginia Woolf's Orlando, poetry by Frank O’Hara and Tim Dlugos. The video is filmed by Laura Schaeffer and directed by Schaeffer and Courtesy.
Courtesy’s 2nd single Gretel Girl (breadcrumbs) feat. Sophie Joe from her new album intimate yell is a contemporary house track written, produced and recorded by Courtesy, with drum production by Spray and vocals sung by Singaporean musician Sophie Joe – who has also appeared on several of Courtesy’s past releases. The heartbreak themed lyrics are written by American artist Sofia Defino Leiby, and edited in a collaborative process with Courtesy. German Pianist Ben Leo has contributed to the track with a live piano recording.
